We talk to Caroline Casey, founder of The Valuable 500 campaign, about the need for disability role models in business.
Inclusive business campaigner, social entrepreneur and self-confessed ‘dangerous dreamer’, Caroline Casey has always lived a life without limits – from finding out she was legally blind only at the age of 17 years old, to her decision at 28 to leave her job and trek across India solo on an elephant to raise inclusivity awareness. Now the founder of the Valuable 500 campaign, launched this year, wants to release the social and economic potential of the 1.3 billion people in the world with a disability. We talk to her about why a disability is only one part of anyone’s challenges – or their potential – and why she’s inviting 500 of the world’s biggest CEOs to commit to putting the issue on their board agenda.
Following the recording of this podcast, Janet Riccio, Executive Vice President of Omnicom, founding Valuable 500 leader and avid supporter - whom Caroline spoke of in this interview - sadly passed away.

As President of techUK, Jacqueline de Rojas heads up the organisation that represents the digital companies and technologies that are shaping our lives - and will continue to increasingly define the social and business world. But with women, BAME and those in later life significantly underrepresented in this fast-moving Brave New World the challenges for diversity and inclusion are pressing. “Where are the others?” is the question she suggests we all ask when faced with a meeting or a team where diversity is absent, to do our part to level the playing field, and ensure that the future is written by all of us.

Ep. 18 - Ashton Applewhite on why ageing is a powerful time for women
Monday May 13, 2019
Monday May 13, 2019
We talk to author and activist, Ashton Applewhite, about how later life can be full of power and liberation if we choose to claim it.
Ageism has been called the ‘last acceptable prejudice” – but ageing is also one of the fundamental markers of human progress, with a vast and growing demographic of people now living longer than ever. Given that, why are attitudes to age still so judgemental? And why is growing older for women in particular still seen as so negative?
Author of This Chair Rocks – a manifesto against ageism, Ashton Applewhite is part of a growing movement challenging the narrative of this bias. We talk to her about the leading role of women in the fight against ageism.

Ep. 15 The Third Age: Rethinking the Menopause
Monday Feb 04, 2019
Monday Feb 04, 2019
The menopause is one of the last taboos in society and for many women. It’s a time when our bodies and minds can undergo profound natural changes - but why don’t we talk about it more with each other, our families and employers, and why can’t this journey in a woman’s life be as positive and powerful as any other? Sports therapist and performance coach Melina Healy works with women going through the peri-menopause and menopause to optimise their experience and help them to rethink their relationship to it – and argues that the menopause should be part of any progressive business’s wellbeing package.

Gender parity is a journey that requires both men and women to step up, both personally and professionally and remake the world. But do the messages we give our children reflect that goal of progress and empower them - or confirm long-standing, deep bias and limitation that slows the pace of positive change? And is there enough work being done to change the male social narrative as well as the female? In this podcast episode, we talk to biodynamic psychologist Fiona Arrigo and counsellor Darrell Pacini about how we move toward the "healthy masculine" and the powerful role it can play culture and business for the next generation.
