Monday May 13, 2019
Monday May 13, 2019
We talk to author and activist, Ashton Applewhite, about how later life can be full of power and liberation if we choose to claim it.
Ageism has been called the ‘last acceptable prejudice” – but ageing is also one of the fundamental markers of human progress, with a vast and growing demographic of people now living longer than ever. Given that, why are attitudes to age still so judgemental? And why is growing older for women in particular still seen as so negative?
Author of This Chair Rocks – a manifesto against ageism, Ashton Applewhite is part of a growing movement challenging the narrative of this bias. We talk to her about the leading role of women in the fight against ageism.
